Salvatore CAMAJ

Salvatore Camaj, a sculptor and ceramicist, was born in 1962 in Albania and has lived in Geneva since 1985. His works are characterized by refined volumetry and symbolic depth. His sculptures convey a sense of the “unfinished,” representing a passage toward infinity as he seeks to portray universal and collective archetypes through intricate details.
Camaj frequently explores the evolution and unique characteristics of animals and humans, capturing his figures—whether human or animal—in iconic moments. These “material instants” appear as frozen reflections, balanced between freedom and stillness. His creations are made from clay, terracotta, and faience, while his bronzes are cast by a foundry based on his models, with the patinas applied collaboratively.
Through his art, Camaj emphasizes the raw and authentic nature of existence, imbuing his works with an artistic force that allows for ever-evolving interpretations.
