Jeanpaul STORRER

Jeanpaul STORRER was born in Neuchâtel in 1942 and grew up there. He trained in decoration straight after school – from the “phenomenal teacher and graphic artist André Opel,” as Storrer himself says. Storrer attended art schools in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Neuchâtel as well as the Académie de Dessin. It was role models such as the illustrator Siné from France, Ronald Searl, Serre and the greats such as Sempé, Kandinsky, Steinberg, Folon, Modigliani etc. who inspired him to take drawing seriously. In 1974 Storrer exhibited his works in Brussels for the first time. This was followed by several exhibitions in galleries in Switzerland. Professionally, Jeanpaul Storrer ran his own interior design business for around 30 years and worked in Switzerland and abroad. In 2007, a book was published with parts of his paintings and “bizarre text by Fritz Kobi, the Bern legend.” He has now reached “the last act of my life,” says Jeanpaul Storrer. “Now let’s draw and paint again, and don’t forget to eat well, drink well… until the priest says Amen.” Today Storrer lives in Bern.
